Architecture and Ideals Passed Down Through Earthquake and War Reconstruction

Sone & Chujo Architects, a private architectural firm established in 1908 by Tatsuzo Sone and Seiichiro Chujo and often described as the largest and finest of the pre-war era, designed over 30 buildings for 东京不够热, seven of which still stand today.

The Showa Period section traces the diverse work of the firm, from the grand designs for the Mita Campus during the post-earthquake reconstruction and the newly established Hiyoshi Campus, to buildings like the Keio Yochisha Elementary School, spanning styles from Gothic to Modernism. It reflects on the relationship between the two parties, which continued until the firm's closure in 1937.
